I was recently asked to manage the White Plains office by Marsha Rand, our founder. It was a rare speechless moment, and if you know me, you can appreciate that statement. White Plains is the second biggest Rand office in New York by closed volume, and has over 100 agents. There was a bittersweet component to the change as well because I had become close with my Yorktown and Carmel guys.
I’m still in my first month. By and large, the transition is complete, I’ve meet with quite a few of the White Plains agents, and I’m still formulating my goals. But here are a few thoughts thus far:
- I have immense respect for the roots of the team here. Rand has been in the Westchester market for 30 years, and the acquisitions from years past still have their DNA here. Nick Wolff, a giant of a human being I know from when my children were receiving early intervention education at the Easter Seals program is here. Nick was a big broker for years before joining Rand and his community involvement touched thousands. What an honor to work with him.
- The office itself was just renovated and looks absolutely first class. The location, at the corner of Bloomingdale Road and Mamaroneck Avenue, is perfect and…are you sitting down? has FREE INDOOR PARKING. In White Plains!!! The agents have everything they could possible need here, including private offices, meeting rooms, a small kitchen area, and downtown right outside our door.
- The sales force here is loaded with talent and experience. I’ve co-brokered with many of the Realtors here, and a bunch of them came over with me in 2023 when I merged. Many of them have made me feel very welcome, and I’ve had dozens attend the 3 trainings I have given since arriving.
- I’ll share specifics more down the road, but I see a path to grow the production and agent count. I’m working on that plan as we speak.
- I am humbled and honored to be entrusted with the stewardship of a flagship office like this.
One of the many things that made joining Howard Hanna Rand make so much sense for me was their affiliate services. 1st Priority Mortgage, Hudson United Title and Hudson United Insurance are all in-house subsidiaries, and 1st Priority even has an office down the hall. These essential services are not afterthought add-ons. Each of the affiliate services is excellent, staffed with respected professionals and offering a deep, flexible and diverse product line. That makes my job easier and gives the clientele a no-brainer value add that I could only dream of when I was an independent.
